RN-1 Now Available!

RN-1 is a handheld training device for chiropractic and osteopathic students learning HVLA manipulation.

You don’t learn HVLA manipulation by thinking about it. You learn by doing it.

Motor learning research has shown for decades that physical skills improve through repetition, feedback, and deliberate practice. Tutorials and clinics provide the foundation. The RN-1 extends that foundation into the spaces between.

Practise in your room. Between classes. Before practical exams. Work on setup stability, force control, thrust speed, and recoil technique while receiving immediate feedback every time.

The RN-1 is a thrust preparation trainer. A thrust lasts only a fraction of a second, but the skill behind it is built beforehand through preparation, timing, and organisation. The RN-1 makes that process visible.

Check out the video below for an introduction to using it.

Developed by Stephen Howard BSc, M.Chiro – Chiropractor (30+ years) and HVLA Skills Instructor (10 years).

BENEFITS

Something consistent to work against
Each attempt gives you immediate information about what just happened; how stable your setup was, how much pressure you used, how fast you moved, and how you released. It becomes a fixed reference point as your technique develops, so you can see what is changing and what isn’t. This kind of immediate feedback is what allows small adjustments to accumulate into real skill change.

A more thoughtful kind of repetition
Instead of repeating the same movement, you start to notice variation. Small changes in timing, intent, and coordination become visible through repetition. Over time, this builds control, consistency, and confidence in your hands. This is where repetition becomes practice, not just repetition.

Practice on your own terms
RN-1 gives you a way to practise between classes and tutorials, without needing someone else present. You can revisit techniques in your own time and build familiarity through repetition that is entirely self-directed. In skill learning, this kind of spaced, repeated exposure is what helps movements become more stable and reliable.

FEATURES

THRUST ANALYSIS

Monitors setup stability, thrust pressure, thrust speed, and recoil intent during each complete thrust.
